Hand washing a vehicle in a Winnipeg driveway
Winnipeg · Car care guide

How often should you detail your car in a Winnipeg winter?

Check your vehicle after salty commutes and slushy days. The right cleaning schedule depends on buildup, driving and safe weather—not a fixed appointment every week.

Wash road salt when conditions allow

During stretches of heavy salt exposure, check the lower doors, rocker panels and wheel wells each week. A wash every one to two weeks can be a useful starting point for frequently driven vehicles, but buildup and weather matter more than the calendar.

Outdoor mobile washing is not suitable in every Winnipeg cold spell. Ask about temperatures, driveway access and safe runoff before booking; do not assume a below-freezing visit can go ahead. A wash removes contamination but does not replace rust prevention or vehicle maintenance.

Keep slush out of carpets and interior mats

Shake snow from boots before getting in, empty removable rubber mats and let them dry before replacing them. Check underneath for trapped moisture. Avoid soaking carpets in freezing weather or leaving damp mats piled inside the vehicle.

Vacuum loose grit regularly. If white salt marks remain, request an assessment rather than repeatedly scrubbing the same area. Test any cleaner according to its label on a small hidden patch and follow the vehicle manufacturer's care guidance.

Choose the salt-removal add-on that fits

Exterior Wash starts at $65, Interior Detail at $99 and Full Detail at $189. SUV and truck surcharges are $15, $20 and $30 respectively. Interior care and exterior salt rinsing address different parts of the vehicle.

Undercarriage salt rinse is a $25 add-on with an exterior wash or full detail. Salt stain removal is a $25 add-on with an interior detail or full detail. Describe the marks on mats, carpets or upholstery and choose compatible extras in the booking form; scope and availability are confirmed in your quote.

Book an interior reset when buildup returns

For a daily-driver cabin, inspect mats, seats and carpets monthly and arrange deeper interior care when normal vacuuming no longer handles the dirt. Children, pets and frequent winter driving can mean more frequent cleaning; a lightly used car may need less.

After the spring melt, check for leftover grit and dried salt inside and outside. Send your vehicle size, photos of problem areas and parking details with your request so the crew can recommend the right package without unnecessary extras.
